Tamnavulin is a Speyside single malt distillery in the village of Tomnavoulin, near the River Livet. Built in 1966 during a period of rising demand for malt whisky, it was designed as a practical, modern distillery rather than a romantic nineteenth-century site, though it stands on land with a much older milling history.

Today Tamnavulin is operated by Whyte & Mackay, under the wider ownership of Alliance Global. After being mothballed in the mid-1990s, the distillery returned to production in 2007 and was relaunched as a single malt brand for its 50th anniversary in 2016. Much of its whisky still supports blending, but the modern Tamnavulin range has made the distillery considerably more visible to single malt drinkers.

The style is generally smooth, sweet and approachable, with notes of apple, pear, vanilla, honey, malt and soft spice. Tamnavulin is particularly associated with cask finishing, with expressions such as Double Cask, Sherry Cask Edition and a series of red and white wine cask finishes adding layers of fruit, oak and gentle richness to the spirit.

Tamnavulin has established its place as an accessible Speyside malt with a clear modern direction. Rather than relying heavily on rarity or old-fashioned prestige, it offers easy-drinking whisky shaped by soft fruit, sweetness and cask-led variety.
