Distilled at Knockdhu in the Highlands, anCnoc is the modern name given to the distillery's single malt to avoid confusion with Knockando. The distillery itself dates from the 1890s and today sits within the Inver House portfolio, but anCnoc has been positioned as a distinctly contemporary expression of traditional Highland malt, combining established production methods with cleaner, more modern presentation.
The brand's growth has been supported by a thoughtful relaunch and by a presentation style that appeals strongly to enthusiasts. Many expressions are bottled at 46% ABV and, across much of the range, anCnoc emphasises natural presentation, avoiding chill filtration and added colour. This approach, together with careful cask selection, has helped the whisky develop a loyal following among drinkers who value both clarity of flavour and good value.
The house style is generally light, fragrant and well-balanced, often displaying notes of honey, vanilla, citrus and soft orchard fruit, sometimes with a subtle thread of smoke beneath the surface. Alongside these delicate, fruit-forward bottlings, anCnoc has also revealed a more overtly peated character in releases such as Peatheart, showing that the distillery is capable of more than one style while still maintaining its underlying elegance.
