Morris of Rutherglen Australian Whisky
Morris of Rutherglen brings a long wine heritage to Australian whisky. Located in north-eastern Victoria, the family winery dates back to 1859 and is particularly well known for its fortified wines, a legacy that provides the whisky with a distinctive point of difference. Instead of following a conventional Scotch-inspired approach, Morris has developed its identity around the character of Rutherglen and the use of casks influenced by the estate's own fortified wine tradition.
The whisky itself is produced under the guidance of head distiller Darren Peck and is characterised by a soft, fruit-led style layered with oak, spice and the influence of Australian fortified wine barrels. Core releases such as The Signature appear alongside cask-led expressions matured or finished in barrels that previously contained styles such as Muscat and Apera, providing the range with a clear regional character and a richer, more distinctive profile than many younger new-world malts.
