Invergordon is one of Scotland's most important grain whisky distilleries, situated in the Highland port town of the same name on the Cromarty Firth. Established in the late 1950s and in production from the early 1960s, it was built to produce Scotch grain whisky at scale, using continuous stills rather than the copper pot stills associated with single malt production.
Today the distillery is operated by Whyte & Mackay, whose wider ownership sits with the Alliance Global group. Much of Invergordon's output is destined for blending, where its lighter, sweeter style brings body and balance to Scotch whisky recipes.
