Godet Cognac

Godet is one of Cognac's oldest surviving family houses, with roots in La Rochelle that stretch back to the late sixteenth century. The family traces its story to Bonaventure Godet, a Dutch merchant whose trading business became closely associated with the early development of Cognac on France's Atlantic coast. That maritime heritage continues to shape the identity of the house, a Cognac producer characterised by freshness, elegance and a distinctive sense of place.

Previously owned by Diageo, Godet has returned to family ownership. The house is now represented by the fifteenth generation, with Jean-Édouard, Maxime and Cyril Godet leading the business, maintaining a lineage that has become central to the brand's character.

This continuity provides Godet with a somewhat different profile from many larger Cognac names. Beyond the classic range, the house has also created more individual bottlings that demonstrate its independent outlook, yet the core appeal remains unchanged: a historic family maison that combines long inheritance with a modern, refined style.
