Frapin Cognac

Frapin is one of Cognac's best-known family houses, rooted in Grande Champagne and closely associated with estate-grown production. The family traces its presence in the region back to 1270, whilst the modern Cognac house developed around Château Fontpinot in Segonzac, where Frapin continues to produce Cognac from its own vineyards. The estate is considerable, with around 240 hectares under vine in Grande Champagne, providing the house with exceptional scale for a single-family domaine.

This estate foundation creates a style characterised by richness, floral lift and extended ageing potential rather than sheer weight. Frapin is especially well regarded for mature Grande Champagne Cognacs, and the portfolio spans from the approachable 1270 and VSOP through to older expressions such as Château Fontpinot XO, millésimes and prestige bottlings.

Still family-led under Jean-Pierre Cointreau, Frapin holds an important position in Cognac as a house that combines deep heritage with a clear sense of origin. Its finest bottles are not notable simply for presentation, but for the balance, length and elegance that have long made Grande Champagne one of Cognac's most prized crus.
