Clonakilty Whiskey

Clonakilty is an Irish whiskey distillery from County Cork, set close to Ireland's Atlantic coast in the town from which it takes its name. Founded by the Scully family, whose farming roots in the region span several generations, it forms part of the modern revival of Irish whiskey beyond the industry's long-established centres.

The distillery works with copper pot stills and has placed strong emphasis on coastal maturation, with warehouses near the ocean at the family's Galley Head farm. Early Clonakilty releases used sourced Irish whiskey finished and matured under the brand's care, while the distillery's own spirit has now begun to appear, including single pot still whiskey.

The range includes Double Oak, Port Cask and Galley Head expressions, alongside single pot still and limited older releases. The style is typically smooth and fruit-forward, with notes of orchard fruit, vanilla, spice, toasted oak and, in cask-finished bottlings, richer layers of dried fruit or wine-cask sweetness.

Clonakilty brings together modern Irish whiskey-making with a clear West Cork identity. Its whiskies are approachable and polished, but the coastal maturation, family-farm connection and growing use of its own distillate give the brand a stronger sense of place than a simple sourced-and-finished label.
